Agency Background CRASH, Inc. (Community Resources And Self Help) is one of the oldest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) services in San Diego County. Founded in 1970, CRASH, Inc. recently celebrated 31 years as a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping substance abusers regain their self-esteem and become clean, sober, productive, self-sufficient members of their communities. Early in our history, we recognized the need to effectively address the AOD problems of persons involved with the criminal justice system. CRASH, Inc. has experience in implementing both residential and non-residential AOD programs and services through contracts with the County of San Diego Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS) and state and local criminal justice organizations. All CRASH, Inc. current programs are located in the central area of San Diego City and are key components of the County's array of AOD services. CRASH, Inc. consistently delivers high-quality cost-effective services. We currently contract with the County of San Diego for long-term (4-6 months) residential/therapeutic community services in our Golden Hill House program, which has been in continuous operation since 1975 and doubled in capacity through the addition of a second facility in the summer of 2001. We have also contracted with the County since 1990 to provide short-term (60-90 days) residential treatment and recovery services, with one facility for men and a second for women. Our Tim Huddleston (South City) Regional Recovery Center, which began operations in 1984, provides nonresidential treatment and recovery services for both adults and adolescents. In line with our commitment to enhancing the quality of treatment, the Tim Huddleston Center is currently participating in the California Treatment Outcomes Project, which is a part of a Federal study of AOD treatment. Since 1991, we have also operated the OPTIONS for Recovery - Central perinatal day treatment program, providing treatment and ancillary services to pregnant and/or parenting women and their children. In the past, CRASH, Inc. has also provided residential detoxification services, a culturally-specific African-American AOD treatment component (IKUNU), AOD prevention services, AIDS/HIV/STD community outreach and peer education, and PC 1000 drug diversion services. We are always open to considering new directions in the AOD field. |
